It took me three hours, my kitchen got completely covered in hair and my kids got REALLY frustrated with me but in the end … all my patient loving children now have fresh hair cuts!
I really enjoy it. I wish I could say the same for my “clients”. I know the cuts don’t look professional and I really admire those who possess the skills. But until I can afford and have the time for beauty school … I’ll just be a poser chopping at my kid’s heads and aggravating the snot out of them.
The new kitty is not the best at self grooming or maybe it’s just the smell of kid and dog slobber that pushes me to the point that I give it a bath about once a week. Now HUSH – I am NOT into torturing animals – I just require the ones – who are all up on me and the kids – to be clean.
Great news! We found a taker for our rescued kitty. The new owner/fellow homeschool mom is moving to a house with several acres and wants it for a barn cat. She’ll will take possession of the baby mid-November. I am so excited I just can’t hardly wait. Seriously … like I am counting the days. He is super precious and I would LOVE to keep him but the problem is with Macy. It’s non stop wrestle mania when they are both out of the kennels. Meow Meow Meow Meow MEOW goes the whiny kitty whenever Macy touches him. He’s not getting hurt, he’s just whining and it drives me and everyone else NUTS. So, it’s been a wonderful experience fostering this cat, but I can confidently say that I doubt I will shed any tears once he is gone.
The poor thing was shivering so, I could hardly snap the picture.
Little mommy was right there to comfort and snuggle him until he was dry.
For the past three years I have planned to make scarecrows with the kids using old clothes that they can no longer wear. Finally this year, we did it. It took a very long time (thanks aunt Bree for your help) but they are done and hung!
I am too tired right now to backtrack and account for what we’ve been up to this past week.
I miss blogging.
What I wish to record for today:
I could just drink my girls up. As I kissed their sleepy sweet soft faces goodnight I wished that I would never forget just how amazing those tender moments feel.
This weekend we got to spend it once again with my best friend. The weather was perfect, the food was super yummy, the kids got along really well (except that one little fight!), the games were fun (especially b/c I won a lot! Thanks Brooks!) and the company was the best! I loved every minute of it!
A few weeks ago, I noticed my personal odor had changed like SIGNIFICANTLY. I didn’t pay much attention to it at first. I thought it was just something random and my bodily scent would return back to normal soon. Well, this Monday I had enough. I stunk. Seriously. I hadn’t changed my diet that I could remember and I was desperate to find the cause. I proceed to be an idiot and get online researching to find an answer to why people suddenly have terrible B.O. Within minutes all my findings have me convinced that I have diabetes or some strange hormonal abnormality. By the time my man got home I was almost in tears. I pulled him into the bathroom with me and asked, “Do you smell me?” He couldn’t lie, the answer was yes and he was like two feet away. So, I showered and washed the pits TWICE. As I was heading to dinner for a girls night out, I could still faintly smell it. I was really upset.
That night as I was talking with my friends I brought up my body odor troubles. One lady who knows me well asked if I had changed my diet in anyway. I said, no, that I recall. She remembered my new addiction to hummus. See, I like hummus. I love Love LOVE Sabra Roasted Pine nuts Hummus. It’s so smooth and creamy … it’s like buttah! I like to eat it everyday. I like to eat it on bread, chips, carrots or even by itself. If you kinda like hummus try the brand Sabra – it’s so amazing you forget all those other hummus makers who came before it. I couldn’t image it being the cause … it’s a joy to eat, surely something I love so much couldn’t be causing me to stink so wretchedly bad! Well, it’s been two days since I have eaten hummus and the results – I smell like my old self again!
I am so bummed that I just found this new amazing smooth creamy treat and now I can’t eat it for fear I will gross my own self out.
Yesterday we got to tour one of the local TV stations in town. They were even so kind as to allow us to sit in on the evening news.
Well today #1 wanted to create a news broadcast of his own. I am so proud of them. They came up with their own stories and each kids took a turn working the video camera. The girls needed a little help with their script but not the big brother. He was like a little pro.
So yesterday we planned to take school outside. We left the house thinking we’d go for maybe an hour to the local park and finish up reading and then begin a nature hunt and discovery … but for some reason I had the itch to take it a step further. Next thing you know we are heading to Wendy’s to pick up some lunch and driving out to a enormous park where we could hike and explore the rest of the day. The kids took the assignment so seriously. They were constantly stopping to explore the tadpoles in the creek, collecting rocks for their collections, looking for chipmunk homes and drawing everything they found interesting in their Science Notebooks. I was so delighted by their excitement. As the day progressed, we found a path that followed a boggy area that led to a small lake. While we were walking along we began to hear the faint cries of a baby kitty. The closer we got we knew the kitty was crying out for help. Well 30 minutes later … #1’s legs were cover in mud and scratched up from thorns AND we had ourselves a baby kitten. This kitty could be barely 6 weeks old. His legs and tummy were caked with mud and it was obvious there was no mommy around. We took him to the public restroom and with a bar of ivory soap and in a nasty park sink – I gave him a bath. I checked him over thoroughly for ticks and fleas and found not a single one! So I call the hubby and tell him, we have a kitten – at least for one night.
I am not sure what the future is for this little cat “Jake”. Macy has taken to him pretty well. She is being extremely curious and very gentle. It’s kinda weird that Jake has the same markings as Macy. White under his chin, feet, lower neck, chest and tummy. The kids of course want to keep it, but I am not sure I am ready for one more pet. PLUS kittens grow up to be CATS! We already have one. Outdoor cats – nobody really interacts with them much. Indoor cats shed! Then the cost factor $$$$. Oh, and where would I put a litter box. I’d have to be extremely creative at finding the right spot so that Macy won’t eat the POOP!
I know we were supposed to save this little baby, but now what?
Anyone want a free kitty?
These cacti were a thorn in our flesh – seriously. One got my foot (I was wearing flip flops – I was not prepared!) One stuck through the leather in #1’s shoe and hurt him pretty bad.
WHY can’t I get a decent picture of all 3 kids. They looked so thrilled! (Ha!) All of them act like I am torturing them if I ask if I can take a shot of the 3 of them together.
